August Workshops at Western Michigan University
August 3-12, 2004

nstruction at the workshop.

During August, Western Michigan University held a series of three three-day workshops with support from a mini-grant from COATT. These workshops were designed to develop the educational technology skills of WMU’s School University Partnership Team.  This group is comprised of pre-service faculty, pre-service coordinators and supervising teachers committed to working with WMU’s 1,000+ pre-service teachers per year.  Participants learned how to use technology effectively to create learning environments that provide opportunities for students to interact with content in meaningful ways. Topics included e-portfolios, multimedia presentations, video editing, and technology integration. All workshops required participants to create their own lesson plans, web sites, or multi-media presentation using software and other products introduced in the workshop.

Workshop participants create a video presentation. Three of the participants used the skills learned to create a video presentation for their school demonstrating why they would like to use the software they had learned how to use.
