Detroit Public Schools Training
June 14 - 30, 2004

WorkshopCOATT partnered with the Detroit Public Schools to provide training for current and future mentor teachers from within the Detroit Public School system. A series of workshops took place June 14-30.

The 44 K-12 teachers in attendance at the training gained skills and learned techniques that will increase their effectiveness as mentor teachers who can model the effective use of educational technology.

Participants gained experience with various kinds of software and multi-media tools as well as becoming more Internet-savvy.   Topics included laptop basics, MSWord, MS PowerPoint, digital imaging, collaborative writing, creating newsletters, information literacy, WebQuests, MS Outlook, and Excel & Access.

The workshops were especially practical, as participants created computer artifacts for use with their students.
