COATT 2004 Award Winners
The winners of the 2004 COATT Awards were presented October 1 at Wayne RESA.

Innovate
The first issue of Innovate, an online peer-reviewed journal, edited
by James A. Morrison is online at http://www.innovateonline.info This
bi-monthly journal focus is on cutting-edge research and practice in
using information technology to enhance education. Articles for this
premier issue include an interview with Chris Dede on the future of
learning technologies, and results of a study involved a comparative
analysis of six different programs of teacher education conducted for
NCREL.
National
Technology Plan
NCLB challenged the Secretary of Education to update the current national
technology plan. The new national technology plan for the U.S. Department
of Education was to be released in September of 2004. The plan is to
establish a national strategy supporting the effective use of technology
to improve student academic achievement and prepare them for the 21st

NET Day Results
The NET Day results for teachers have been released. The NET Day results
are from a nationwide online survey that gave teachers in all grades
and subjects the opportunity to share their voices and views about
their personal and professional use of technology and the Internet.
More than 11,000 teachers from 1,885 schools in 50 states completed
the online survey. The survey found that teachers use the Internet
to enrich lessons and engage students in learning. To read more of

National Museum of the American
Indian
The grand opening of the National
Museum of the American Indian was in mid-September. The opening of the
museum also offers the WWW user a unique glimpse into the history of
